CNC Lathe Operator A

About the role

CNC Lathe Operator A is responsible for setting up and operating CNC Lathe machines and related equipment. Duties include performing complex setups, training general operators, monitoring machine operations, making necessary adjustments, and inspecting work for dimensional features.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Lathe machines and related equipment.
• Perform duties exercising good machining practices at all times.
• Train General Operators to run machines as needed.
• Work in a safe manner and report any safety, machine, or equipment issues.
• Determine and document machine set ups for each part as needed.
• Stop machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications.
• Makes all edits and adjustments as required to produce parts to work orders/blueprint specifications/sketches.
• Operate more than one machine in a cellular environment with progressive tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches.
• Inspect work for all dimensional features as required and produce quality and quantity of work in accordance with company requirements.
• Accurately complete paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, etc according to company policy.
• Train, guide, and assist other employees as required.
• Monitor and change cutting tools (inserts) as needed.
• Load and unload products.
• Ensure correct orientation of product being placed in machinery.
• Enter commands to title and store programs in computer memory and build and maintain source files.
• Enter computer commands to retrieve stored parts data and programs.
• Review shop orders and drawings to determine job specifications and requirements.
• Generate or edit part programs that meet production objectives for optimum cost, quality, speed, throughput, and on-time customer deliveries.
• Perform machine maintenance as required.

Requirements

• 4 years of experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.

Skills

• Working knowledge of feeds and speeds.
• Working knowledge of cutting tools and their application.

Benefits

• Salary range: $22.50 - $30.00.
