Position Summary
Operate and set up Amada CNC laser cutting systems, robotic welding cells, and auxiliary manufacturing equipment to produce structural steel components that meet engineering specifications, dimensional requirements, and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Amada CNC laser cutting equipment, including loading programs, selecting materials, verifying tooling and machine settings, and processing steel components and custom parts according to work orders, blueprints, and production schedules.
- Perform routine operator maintenance on Amada laser equipment, including nozzle changes, lens inspections, cleaning procedures, and daily machine checks to ensure optimal performance and cut quality.
- Manufacture steel components from various material thicknesses while maintaining print specifications and required dimensional tolerances as specified on engineering drawings, including tolerances as tight as ±0.010" where applicable. Verify compliance through the use of precision measuring instruments and first-piece inspections.
- Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot robotic welding cells to ensure weld quality and production efficiency. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), routings, work instructions, and revision-controlled documents to ensure conformance with customer and engineering requirements.
- Perform dimensional inspections utilizing calipers, micrometers, height gauges, angle gauges, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools to verify compliance with engineering specifications.
- Inspect welded components for fit-up, weld size, penetration, appearance, distortion, and overall conformance to quality standards and engineering requirements.
- Load, unload, and organize raw materials and finished products using forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Identify and report quality concerns, equipment malfunctions, tooling issues, and production abnormalities.
- Complete production reporting, quality documentation, and material transactions accurately.
- Support preventive maintenance activities on Amada laser systems, robotic welding equipment, and related machinery.
- Affiliate with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
