CNC II- Laser Operator - 2nd Shift (Monday-Friday 2:30pm - 11:00pm)

Responsibilities

  • Verify all equipment safety features are operating properly at the start of the shift; report any issues to the shift leader.
  • Observe and comply with all personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety requirements.
  • Review work instructions, prints, and routers for each job.
  • Set up and operate the CNC Laser machine according to established procedures.
  • Utilize measuring devices such as protractors, vernier calipers, micrometers, thickness gauges, machinist squares, etc., to ensure accuracy of work.
  • Work with the shift leader and others to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Perform operator preventive maintenance of the machine and tooling as needed.
  • May be required to program the operation of a CNC press brake.
  • Thoroughly understand laser and heavy machinery safety.
  • Thoroughly understand sheet metal handling safety.
  • Capable of reading part drawings and understanding tolerance requirements.
  • Capable of safely lifting 50 pounds without the use of lifting equipment.
  • Must be capable of understanding and operating laser controls.
  • Will be required to obtain a fork truck driver’s license.
  • Report machine and tooling problems to the supervisor.
  • May be required to assist maintenance in the repair of the laser.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Identify and eliminate unsafe acts.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Recommend drawing changes, equipment changes, or improvements, reduce setup time, and minimize tooling costs.

Qualifications

  • Must be capable of using common measuring equipment for sheet metal.
  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Required: 2 years CNC machine experience.
  • Desired: Associates degree in Mechanical Technology.
  • Required: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process instructions.
  • Required: Ability to distinguish material types, including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • Required: Demonstrated reliability, including good attendance and process conformance.
  • Required: Willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • May be required to assist in the repair of the laser.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Identify and eliminate unsafe acts.
