CNC Engineer Additive Manufacturing

About the role

The CNC Engineer’s main responsibility is to maintain the highest level of technical capabilities and execution in our industry. The role supports Quoting, New Product Introduction (NPI), lights-out manufacturing, programming strategies, and continuing education on the CNC industry to produce the most efficient and precise use of equipment, enabling high-quality product with the shortest possible cycle times.

Responsibilities

• Support quoting efforts by providing precise estimates for setup times, spindle times, and lead times, highlighting concerns over unachievable targets.
• Support NPI efforts by crafting operational notes, initial programming strategies, fixturing strategies, and reviewing whether requirements are achievable.
• Lead project preparation and review after receipt of order for new part numbers, including design and sourcing of CNC programs, fixturing, and initial tooling.
• Generate and/or review programs before they go into use, emphasizing cutting-time efficiency without sacrificing quality.
• Stay educated on the state of the CNC industry to implement beneficial changes and remain on the cutting edge.
• Review all production and repetitive work for opportunities to reduce staging, setup, and cutting time without sacrificing quality, and implement improvements.
• Incorporate as much lights-out manufacturing as possible by evaluating current processes on each project to determine candidates and engineering solutions for implementation.
• Lead all root-cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts, as well as systemic quality initiatives.
• Own process refinement through the establishment of Corrective and Preventive Actions in response to root-cause and quality issues.
• Work with the CNC Supervisor to ensure adequate preventive maintenance schedules are in place and followed; aid in troubleshooting machine performance issues and maintenance as needed.
• Perform backup duties for the CNC Supervisor position as needed.
• Perform 6S activities and other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Observe and implement safety procedures and company policies in the CNC department.
• Deliver operational excellence through focused and quality performance; meet individual goals, metrics, and Key Performance Indicators.
• Work with Engineering and Facility Maintenance to keep equipment, tools, and fixtures clean, maintained, and in best working condition; provide immediate feedback on failures or performance drops.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 15 years of CNC machining experience required.
• 15 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
