CNC Creep Feed Grinder Operator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced multi-axis CNC Creep Feed Grinder Programmer / Operator to join our IGT (Industrial Gas Turbine) Division. In this role, you will operate and program specialized CNC grinding machines using creep feed techniques to precisely grind complex shapes, hard and thin metals, and soft alloys. This process requires slow, deep cuts, precise setup, monitoring of machine parameters, and strict quality control to achieve high-tolerance finishes for industrial gas turbines and aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

• Load workpieces, select appropriate grinding wheels, and set up machine parameters based on part drawings and specifications, including feed rates and depth of cut optimized for creep feed grinding.
• Create and modify CNC programs to execute complex grinding paths for intricate geometries.
• Continuously monitor the grinding process and perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure adherence to tight tolerances.
• Perform deburr operations within specified tolerances.
• Design and develop measuring/inspection processes and fixturing as required.
• Identify and resolve issues related to machine malfunctions, tool wear, and process variations.
• Document all inspection findings for each part and adhere to the company’s document retention policy.
• Adhere to all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and housekeeping standards.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on the CNC grinder to maintain optimal performance and prevent production downtime.
• Perform additional and related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and/or specified Trade School certificate.
• Thorough understanding of CNC grinding principles and programming.
• Well-versed in creep feed grinding techniques and limitations.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Proficient in precision measurement using various metrology tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
• 3-5 years of multi-axis CNC grinding experience.
• Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or mandatory overtime when required.
• Experience in the industrial gas turbine and/or aerospace industry is highly desirable.
• Good organizational, planning, and timekeeping skills.
• Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment.

Pay

$25.60/hr - $38.80/hr (DOE) + Bonus
