About the role

Marshall Healthcare Facility is a 64-bed skilled and long-term care facility in Machias, Maine. The employees are known for their loyalty and dedication, with some having worked here for over 25 years. Restorative nursing and therapy services are available on an as-needed basis, and the facility aims to help residents live as independently as possible.

Responsibilities

• Assists with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary, and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients.
• Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs.
• Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials, transporting patients, answering call lights and requests, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
• Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
• Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies, and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
• Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and on the Maine CNA Registry.
• Able to work scheduled shifts, committing to being there for the team and residents.
• Able to interact with the computer-based Electronic Medical Record system.

Skills

• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of relevant nursing care.
• Friendly and professional bedside manner.
• Maintains current CPR certification.
• Multi-tasking skills.
• Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills.
• Understands legal implications of patient care.
