About the role
The Wyoming State Hospital seeks individuals passionate about serving others and making a difference in their community. As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will support patient treatment plans within an interdisciplinary team, ensuring a safe, caring, and respectful environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient behaviors while providing support and nursing interventions.
- Encourage appropriate behaviors that enhance participation in recovery.
- Act as a patient advocate.
- Assist patients with daily planning.
- Document patient progress during hospitalization.
- Participate in shift change reports and team meetings.
- Assist nurses with milieu management and work environment safety.
- Utilize de-escalation interventions as necessary.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of patient-centered care and support within a CNA team.
- Understanding of de-escalation techniques and management of challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge of professional boundaries and ethical practices.
- Skills in communication and providing customer service in high-stakes environments.
- Basic proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, including CPR, First Aid, and RACE.
- Understanding of standard infection control practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Substitution of 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services).
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA Certification obtained within twelve (12) months of hire OR Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare).
- Experience: No prior experience required.

Notes
- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- A background check, including fingerprinting, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the FBI for every successful applicant.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions.
- The Wyoming State Hospital uses E-Verify, an Internet-based system, to confirm the eligibility of all newly hired employees to work in the United States.
