About the role

The Sr. Nursing Aide - Per Diem - 7E Med/Surg position at UC San Diego Health’s Hillcrest campus is responsible for supporting the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. They also perform uncomplicated technical procedures, participate in performance improvement activities, utilize various technical equipment and supplies, and provide patient care support including patient transport, specimen and blood transport, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Performs uncomplicated technical procedures under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits.
• Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies.
• Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood, blood products transport, and inventory management.
• Works in a team environment, including training and evaluation of peers, scheduling of work, and assisting the administrative functions of the unit.
• Cross-trains for the roles of Hospital Unit Secretary (HUSC) and Continuous Observation Attendant (COA).
• Frequently functions as a patient sitter and observes and monitors patients to ensure their well-being and safety.

Requirements

• Active California CNA license.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to different work environments and patient populations.

Qualifications

• Previous acute care CNA or other direct patient-care experience preferred.
• Previous CNA experience in a psych, behavioral, or memory care facility preferred.
• Knowledge of Epic, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Bilingual: Spanish/English preferred.

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $65,396 - $65,396 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).

Schedule

12-Hour Shifts, Sunday-Saturday.
