About the role
The CNA/Program Assistant supports the medical and programmatic needs of participants in The League's Adult Medical Day and Day Programs. This role combines hands-on personal care with engaging, person-centered activities to promote health, independence, and social connection.
Responsibilities
- Aid participants with ADLs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
- Maintain accurate records of vital signs, weight, and other health indicators.
- Support medication administration under the supervision of licensed nurses.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment following infection control and safety protocols.
- Report changes in participant condition promptly to nursing staff.
- Facilitate and assist with recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to participant abilities and interests.
- Transport participants to and from activities, including wheelchair transfers and mobility support.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive environment that promotes independence, dignity, and choice.
- Collaborate with the program team to adapt activities and materials for diverse abilities.
Qualifications
- Current Maryland CNA certification in good standing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Ability to lift, transfer, and provide mobility assistance to participants (up to 50 lbs with assistance).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with individuals with diverse disabilities.
- Previous experience in an adult day program, long-term care, or disability services environment preferred.
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and person-centered care approaches preferred.
