About the Role
Provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a psychiatric hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor vital signs, perform blood glucose testing, and document findings accurately in the EMR.
- Identify abnormal signs, notify nursing staff, and recheck as needed.
- Conduct 1:1 safety observations for high-risk patients, ensuring a secure environment.
- Assist with activities of daily living, patient rounding, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Support admissions, transfers, discharges, and provide emotional support respecting patient dignity.
- Maintain thorough documentation and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Current CNA certification and CPR/BLS certification.
- Preferred experience in behavioral health or psychiatric settings.
- Knowledge of suicide precautions, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care is advantageous.
- Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and respond swiftly in emergencies.
Work Environment
Inpatient psychiatric setting with exposure to acute psychiatric symptoms and crises. Adherence to safety protocols and therapeutic communication practices is required.
