About the Role
Provides direct care to residents in the facility, primarily for their activities of daily living, plan of care, assistance with therapeutic activities program, restorative programs, and documentation as required by the facility.
Qualifications
- Certified Nurse Assistant with a current State of Tennessee license
- CPR Certification
- Ability to read regulations and patient records and write clearly
- Ability to communicate in a courteous, friendly manner
- Physical requirements attached
Education and Experience
- Minimum Nurse Assistant Certification
- One year of experience working as a Certified Nurse Assistant, including some medical/surgical experience and awareness of the needs of geriatric residents
- High School graduate or GED preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, ranging from total to partial to stand-by assistance depending on physical and cognitive ability
- Assist residents in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair using correct mechanical lift; may require assistance of another aide depending on weight and physical abilities
- Rotate daily assignments, including bath aide, red napkin, hall trays, and hall duties
- Assist residents in dressing or undressing; manage clean and soiled laundry
- Assist residents with bathroom use, peri care, and cleaning of bedpans, urinals, and bedside commodes
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate
- Assist residents during meals, document intake, and serve between-meal nourishment
- Change soiled bedding and maintain clean linens
- Assist with personal grooming, including brushing hair, teeth, and trimming nails; monitor hygiene continuously
- Reposition residents unable to do so themselves
- Clean equipment such as bedpans, basins, and empty catheter bags
- Maintain bedside units in neat and orderly condition, including storing personal items properly
- Observe and report housekeeping and maintenance needs promptly
- Maintain bedside care supplies and record usage via charge system
- Keep all service areas clean and orderly
- Promote residents' quality of life by maintaining privacy, accommodating preferences, encouraging independence, and facilitating participation in activities
- Respond to call lights promptly and ensure they are within residents' reach
- Maintain communication with team leader, participate in reports, and share observations about residents' physical and psychosocial functioning
- Attend unit meetings, mandatory in-services (minimum 12 hours annually), and optional in-services as needed
- Demonstrate positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and courteous behavior toward residents, family members, visitors, and team members
