CNA/PCA - Med Surg - Full Time - Days
About the role
Works under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/lacerations), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN.
- This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements: vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.
- Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Demonstrates the ability to be able to take direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Hold a CNA
- Hold an EMT-B license
- Completed an MA program
- Currently enrolled in a Nursing Program with at least 80+ hours of clinical completed
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- Experience: 1 year Prior health care experience in hospital setting (Preferred)
- Licenses and Certifications: Must meet at least one of these requirements:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Virginia Department of Health Professions Upon Hire (Required)
- EMT-B (Basic), Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Upon Hire (Required)
- Medical Assistant Program Graduate Upon Hire (Required)
- Currently enrolled in LPN or RN Nursing diploma or degree program with 80 hours completed Upon Hire (Required)
- BLS required upon hire.
Skills
Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and providing care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit.
Ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN.
Ability to take direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.

Pay
Hiring Range $16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
Schedule
12 hour shifts and working every other weekend. Day shift is 7a - 7:30p
