CNA-NEW STARTING PAY RATE! (FT/PT)

Assist clients with activities of daily living, provide nursing care and active treatment, and help maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment in assigned households, neighborhoods, or units.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating a therapeutic atmosphere conducive to clients’ mental health.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for clients in conjunction with the facilities department.
• Provide client care to meet physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
• Participate in the development and implementation of client care plans.
• Assist with activities or simple food preparation related to household assignments.
• Take clients on community outings for recreational or educational purposes.
• Observe and report changes in client behavior or condition to a Registered Nurse immediately; respond to emergencies and crisis situations.
• Maintain confidentiality of all client and business information.
• Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and outside agency training sessions as appropriate.
• Complete and maintain necessary documentation according to applicable requirements, codes, and policies.
• In CBRF settings, assist with group interactions, admissions, scheduling, clerical duties, and maintaining a homelike environment.
• Create a supportive environment with supervision and assistance tailored to individual client needs to achieve maximum independent function and resolve crises; document fulfillment of crisis plans and client progress.
• Perform related functions as assigned.

Requirements

• Current knowledge of procedures and techniques in providing routine, non-professional nursing care to geriatric, developmentally disabled, mentally ill, AODA clients, or children and adolescents.
• Knowledge of CPI, restraining techniques, and therapeutic interventions.
• Knowledge of principles of documentation and basic principles of active treatment.
• Knowledge of behavior modification principles and techniques.
• Ability to recognize and address the physical, psychosocial, mental, and emotional needs of clients.
• Ability to carry out nursing care plans and follow oral and written instructions as directed by a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to organize, plan, lead, and participate in activities.
• Ability to manage stress associated with unpredictable client behavior.
• Ability to use standard medical equipment (thermometer, blood pressure apparatus, stethoscope, etc.), including mechanical lifts and gait belts.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with clients, family members, and coworkers.
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and carry out policies and procedures governing client care.
• Ability to work required hours, including every other weekend for part-time and full-time positions.
• Ability to provide basic range-of-motion and ambulatory techniques.
• Ability to complete required training under DHS 83, DHS 34, and mental health crisis training for crisis stabilization units.

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 75 pounds with assistance; frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting; occasional driving.
• Use hands for repetitive grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, and operating controls.
• Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching, and grappling; occasional swimming.
• Communicate orally in a clear manner.
• Distinguish sounds at various frequencies and volumes.
• Distinguish people or objects at varied distances under different light conditions.
• Must be free from communicable disease.

Pay

• Starts at $20.00/hour, increasing to $20.52/hour after successful completion of a 6-month initial employment period.
• Additional pay incentives for PM (3pm–11pm) and NOC (11pm–7am) shifts, as well as weekends.
• Shift differentials: $2.00/hour extra for PM shift, $3.00/hour extra for NOC shift.
• Additional special assignment pay for .2 and .4 positions.

Schedule

• AM, PM, and NOC shifts available.
• Applicants available for PM shift (3pm–11pm) strongly encouraged to apply.
• All part-time and full-time positions work every other weekend.
