About the Role

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Coquille Valley Hospital provides patient care as directed by a Registered Nurse within the CNA’s prescribed scope of practice. The CNA communicates effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians and demonstrates a commitment to meeting the needs of the patient population they serve.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate needs verbalized by patient to supervising nurse.
  • Observe, report, and document patient status and the care or service furnished.
  • Accurately read and record temperature, pulse, and respirations.
  • Follow basic infection control procedures.
  • Understand and follow basic elements of good body mechanics.
  • Understand basic elements of body functioning and changes in body function that must be reported to supervising RN.
  • Regularly maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
  • Recognize emergencies and have knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Perform safe techniques in personal hygiene and grooming that include bathing, shampoo, skin care, oral hygiene, and elimination.
  • Demonstrate safe transfers and ambulating skills.
  • Monitor patient’s nutrition and fluid intake.
  • Maintain at least twelve (12) hours of continuing in-service training annually.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Currently certified in the State of Oregon to practice as a CNA.
  • Current Provider BLS.
  • One (1) year CNA experience.

Skills

  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in use of computer including MS Office applications.
  • Ability to manage complex operations and diverse personnel.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge, keyboarding skills, and office equipment familiarity.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and concerns easily while working in a busy, multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to work both within a team setting and independently, utilizing time effectively with a minimum of supervision.

Pay

$20.12 - $30.14 per hour
