About the role

Performing under the direction of the RN/LPN and as a member of the unit-based patient care team, the Certified Nursing Assistant performs duties of direct and indirect patient care.

As delegated, direct patient care tasks include but are not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKGs, weights, and Intake/Output data collection. Indirect patient care activities include, but are not limited to, transport, restocking, and/or obtaining patient care supplies.

In addition, the C.N.A. is responsible for responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit. They function within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with Joint Commission, CDC, and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care tasks such as activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKGs, weights, and Intake/Output data collection
• Perform indirect patient care activities including transport, restocking, and obtaining patient care supplies
• Respond promptly to the needs of patients and family members
• Support the efficient operation of the unit
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with Joint Commission, CDC, and OSHA standards

Requirements

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing patient care
• Good organizational skills, personal maturity, accuracy, and flexibility
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Certification as a nursing assistant
• BLS certification required
• Command of verbal and written English
• Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability
• Ability to perform simple math calculations
• Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility
• Demonstrates commitment to customer relations and continuous quality improvement
• Ability to effectively communicate with all age levels served within the scope of the position
• Ability to meet job performance expectations without posing a direct threat to health and safety

Pay

Salary range for new hires: $17.64–$26.58 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include the value of benefits such as healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement.
