CNA- IP Surgical Unit Nights

Assists Physicians and nursing personnel in providing patient care to a specific patient population. Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Licensed Nurse. Performs clerical duties as assigned and participates in unit activities that enhance and promote quality patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion with accuracy and clarity, tailored to expected readers.
• Demonstrates technical skill in using and maintaining equipment appropriate for the role, including troubleshooting and adapting to new technology.
• Treats patients and families with compassion, implementing the plan of care while monitoring and documenting patient responses.
• Establishes rapport with clients, adapting communication style to meet patient needs and respecting confidentiality and privacy.
• Supports social, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and families, managing difficult or emotional situations effectively.
• Develops and modifies expected outcomes for continuity of care, involving patient/family and other disciplines in the evaluation process.
• Collects specimens, runs lab tests, performs EKGs, drug screen collections, and breath alcohol tests.
• Adheres to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
• Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the organization’s core values, mission, and vision.
• Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility, including specialty certification requirements.
• Attends staff meetings, completes mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
• Demonstrates competency in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
• Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Vocational / Technical Degree in Medical Field (Preferred)
• 1+ year Patient Care Experience in a health care setting (Preferred)

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
