Job Summary

Affords support in delivering patient care according to each patient's personalized plan of care. Carries out tasks as directed by a registered nurse. Monitors and records patient status. Safeguards patient privacy. Implements safe patient handling practices. Notifies the registered nurse of actions taken, patient observations, and any changes in patient condition. Maintains a tidy and hygienic patient environment.

Essential Functions

• Assists patients with daily living activities.
• Turns and repositions patients independently or with help.
• Transports patients and assists with walking.
• Prevents falls and implements restraints as directed by the registered nurse.
• Performs non-sterile soaks, simple dressing applications, and perineal care as assigned.
• Collects and documents vital signs, fluid intake and output, and basic and sterile specimens.
• Communicates lab results to the registered nurse.
• Administers comfort and non-medication-based pain management techniques.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This position does not involve supervisory or managerial responsibilities. Reporting relationships will vary based on departmental structure and leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care technician program.
• No prior experience required.
• In lieu of school verification, current or former state Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is acceptable at the time of hire.

• Basic computer skills and data entry capabilities.
• Mathematical skills.
• Knowledge of patient equipment (suction, vital signs, defibrillator).
