About the Role
Provide elders with routine daily nursing care in accordance with current federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, as well as established nursing home policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to deal graciously with personnel, elders, family members, visitors, and the general public.
- Patience, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle elders based on their current maturity level.
- Understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the aged.
- Sincere desire to work with the aged.
- Willingness to work harmoniously with other associates.
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing programs.
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
- Possess sight and hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function.
- May be required and trained to transport elders who need personal assistance; lifting of equipment, supplies, and furniture weighing 50+ pounds may also be required.
- Vaccinations must be up-to-date and proof provided prior to hire.
