About the Role

The Certified Activity Assistant (Aquatics) supports the Mary Campbell Center's Activities team in delivering high-quality services within a homelike environment for 68 residents. This role assists residents, respite residents, and community participants with activity programs, special projects, seasonal events, and personal care as needed. The incumbent collaborates closely with the Activities Department team and adheres to MCC's Guiding Principles and Mission.

Requirements

• High character with a consistently positive attitude and compassion for residents with varying disabilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CNA license issued by the State of Delaware.
• Current Certified Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to lift and transfer adults using safe procedures, and assist with personal care (feeding, toileting).
• Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a rehabilitative setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Aquatics and/or Activities Specialist in daily operations, primarily in the pool or other assigned areas.
• Coordinate with the Specialist to maintain appropriate goals and objectives.
• Assist residents, respite residents, and community participants with programs, including community outings, in-house activities, pool/hot tub, physical development, or medical appointments.
• Provide programming as directed by the Department Specialist and document attendance and performance data.
• Ensure resident care needs are met during all Activities Department programs, both on-site and at external events.
• Assist with feeding, toileting, personal care (showering, dressing), and document care in the EMR per policy.
• Monitor and report changes in residents' physical abilities, limitations, or medical conditions to a supervisor or Neighborhood Nurse.
• Organize and prepare program materials and supplies daily; perform duties such as water testing, locker room/laundry area maintenance, and inventory stocking.
• Escort residents to and from program areas as needed.
• Assist with community field trips, including preparing trip supplies, petty cash forms, and adaptive equipment.
• Safely transport residents in Center vehicles, complete vehicle logs, and maintain positive community relations during outings.
• Support special event programs for residents' recreational or physical well-being.
• Ensure resident safety, report hazards, and maintain a clean, safe environment before, during, and after programs.
• Complete routine cleaning and maintenance checklists; sanitize equipment and supplies per department guidelines.
• Maintain required certifications and a valid, clean driving record.
• Initiate one-on-one or small group activities during downtime.
• Complete mandatory in-services and attend staff meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
