CMT Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technicians and special inspectors responsible for completing field work.
• Supervise, mentor, train, and assist with hiring of staff.
• Mentor technicians by conducting performance reviews to stimulate and reward improved performance.
• Aid in the development and implementation of CMT policies and best practices.
• Assist office leadership in setting direction for the CMT group, coordinating with the CMT Operations team.
• Perform routine to complex inspections and tests of construction materials in the field to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Prepare and submit accurate daily reports on observation activities promptly.
• Support the company's safety policy and enforce safe work practices, conducting safety audits as needed.
• Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager to achieve goals and objectives.
• Coordinate with schedulers and other regional operations to manage workloads and share resources.
• Evaluate the performance of assigned personnel regularly through client interactions.
• Work closely with consulting staff representatives to prepare proposals and coordinate project progress.
• Conduct quality control reviews of testing and inspection work performed by assigned staff; identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues.
• Communicate project progress and issues to consulting group members.
• Manage and maintain field and laboratory equipment, including calibrations and supporting laboratory accreditation activities.
• Plan, maintain, and steward local fleet vehicles.
• Collect and communicate business intelligence gathered during service performance to other members of the consulting team.

Requirements

• Show excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Willing to travel up to 50% of the time, sometimes with short notice.
• Show understanding and experience performing field testing and special inspections related to soils, concrete, and masonry in commercial and public projects.
• Have computer aptitude and be able to adapt to company systems.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent, with technical school or college coursework a plus.
• Hold ACI Field Level I Certification and Nuclear Density Gauge Certification.
• Have relevant post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management (preferred but not required).
• Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in materials testing or construction.
• Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Understand safety matrices and expectations.
• Be willing and able to obtain required ICC certifications as necessary and within a reasonable timeframe.
