About the Role
The Community Mediation Service Corps (CMSC) is an AmeriCorps program administered by NYSDRA that places trained members with the Community Mediation Center at Child + Family Services in Buffalo, NY to support conflict resolution, outreach, and community engagement.
This half-time position (900 hours per program year) provides basic mediation training to candidates. The service member will assist with hosting and co-mediating virtual and small claims mediation sessions. Volunteers will provide technical and procedural support on Zoom, co-facilitate sessions, draft agreements, and complete session documentation. The role maintains a smooth, secure, and professional environment for clients navigating sensitive matters while participating in professional development and service initiatives.

Requirements
- Complete a short application and background check process through AmeriCorps and Child + Family Services
- Serve a term beginning September 7, 2026, with all hours completed by August 20, 2027
- Commit to at least two full days per week
- Ability to appear in-person at offices and within city courts
