About the role
We are Rebo, and we provide interior and exterior automotive and electronics lighting solutions. As a CMM Technician, you will operate and program CMM equipment, conduct dimensional inspections, interpret CAD models, and perform various quality assurance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Operate and program CMM equipment using PC-DMIS software, 3D scanner, and other metrology tools to inspect molded plastic parts and assembled products.
- Conduct dimensional inspections on first shots, production runs, and assembled parts in support of PPAP and ongoing quality requirements.
- Interpret CAD models, GD&T drawings, and customer specifications for both plastic and assembled components.
- Validate complex assemblies involving multiple components (e.g., vibration welded or heat-staked parts) for proper fit, alignment, and tolerance stack-up.
- Perform capability studies (Cpk, Ppk).
- Document and communicate non-conformances, assist with root cause analysis, and support corrective/preventive actions.
- Support new tooling trials and engineering changes with accurate dimensional feedback and measurement reports.
- Coordinate with tooling, process, and quality engineering to validate mold cavity performance and dimensional repeatability.
- Maintain and conduct Annual Validations for all active programs in accordance with customer requirements.
- Follow IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements regarding traceability, data retention, and process control.
- Follow all other assignments deemed necessary while under the direction of the Team Leader, Area Operations Supervisor, Process Manager, or the Director of Operations.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of quality or dimensional inspection experience (preferably in plastic injection molding and/or assembly operations).
- CMM operation and programming experience (preferably PC-DMIS).
- Proficient in reading blueprints, understanding GD&T, and using hand tools (micrometers, calipers, pin gages, etc.).
- Familiarity with basic SPC and MSA concepts.
- Capable of performing the essential functions of the job which at times may include, for example, lifting up to 30 lbs. and standing for long periods of time.
- Experience with automotive interior or exterior plastic components is preferred.
- Exposure to APQP, PPAP, FMEA processes in a Tier 1 environment preferred.
- Knowledge of plastic-specific dimensional concerns (e.g., warp, shrinkage, sink) preferred.
