CMM Programmer/Operator (Edwards Vacuum)

Location: Buffalo, NY – Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP). Facility address: 6685 Crosby Rd, Basom, NY 14013.

Salary Range: $45,000 – $87,000. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location.

About the role

The CMM Programmer is responsible for the management and operation of CMM measuring instruments and programs. This includes ensuring procedures are followed, resolving quality-related issues, periodic inspection and calibration of measuring instruments, generation of reports, tracking of data, and recommendation of process improvements.

In this role, you will program, operate, and maintain Zeiss coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality and precision. You will work closely with engineering and production teams during product validation and to solve quality problems in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate measurement and reporting.
• Perform precise dimensional inspections and analyze measurement data to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CMM programs, fixturing, and measuring instruments to maintain smooth operational performance.
• Experience with MSA and Gauge R&R activities preferred.
• Devise strategies for system enhancements to assure long-range integrity and cost-effectiveness of the measurement system.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical field. May consider a combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.
• More than 3 years of experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operating in a 3D measuring environment (Zeiss Calypso experience preferred).
• Experience in the precision machining (aerospace/defense) industry.
• In-depth understanding of technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of product defect analysis and process management.
• Ability to communicate in basic English.
• Possess diverse knowledge and experience in CMM operation capabilities and manual measuring instruments.
