CMM Operator Zeiss-LK 2nd Shift

About the role

Inspecting large, complex castings and forgings is a unique challenge. Acme Industries machines finished components measured in feet, not inches, and weighing anywhere from 50 pounds to over a ton. The role requires an experienced CMM Operator familiar with inspecting big, heavy, high-value parts on large-envelope Zeiss and LK Coordinate Measuring Machines.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection of large precision-machined castings and forgings using Zeiss and LK CMMs
• Safely handle, lift, and fixture heavy components using overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment
• Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T to verify part conformance
• Execute existing CMM programs and assist with setup and alignment for new part configurations
• Document inspection results and communicate findings to machinists, engineers, and quality leadership
• Support first-article, in-process, and final inspections in an AS9100 environment

Requirements

• Experience operating Zeiss and/or LK CMMs (Calypso and/or CAMIO experience a plus)
• Hands-on experience inspecting large or heavy components - castings, forgings, weldments, or similar (candidates whose background is exclusively small parts will find this a significant transition)
• Comfort and experience with overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging for part handling (or willingness to be trained and certified)
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
• Attention to detail and sound judgment - our parts are too valuable for guesswork

Benefits

• $25–$29/hr plus a 10% shift differential
