CMDB Operations and Infrastructure Engineer
About the role
The CMDB Operations and Infrastructure Engineer supports the stability and scalability of enterprise CMDB operations. This role involves managing and maintaining ServiceNow Discovery across various cloud environments, ensuring accurate data population, and collaborating with multiple teams to onboard new technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support for CMDB processes covering infrastructure, cloud, and enterprise platforms.
- Support and maintain ServiceNow Discovery across on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Maintain and monitor discovery health, ingestion pipelines, reconciliation rules, and data flows to ensure accurate CMDB population.
- Perform operational triage, remediation, and root cause analysis for CMDB data gaps, integration failures, or ingestion anomalies.
- Manage and support integrations with existing and new tools, including asset and security platforms (e.g., JAMF, Akamai, Imperva, Wiz, Kong, CrowdStrike).
- Support onboarding and sustainment of new technologies and AI-enabled capabilities from an operational perspective.
- Act as first-line operational support, escalating complex issues and partnering with senior engineers as needed.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, application, and platform teams to onboard assets and validate relationships.
- Support platform upgrades, patches, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years related work experience.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Foundational experience in IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, systems administration, or platform support.
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with ServiceNow, ITSM concepts, and CMDB principles.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
- Experience supporting or integrating enterprise tools across infrastructure, asset management, or security domains.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and operational problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a governed, standards-driven environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- ServiceNow certifications (System Administrator, Discovery) or willingness to obtain.
- ITIL Foundation certification or familiarity with ITIL practices.
- Exposure to additional enterprise tools (e.g., JAMF, Akamai, Wiz, Imperva, CrowdStrike).
- Experience supporting discovery, data normalization, and configuration governance at scale.
