About the role

The Medical Assistant supports providers and staff by delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring efficient daily operations. This role works closely with an MD and a partnering Medical Assistant to support patient flow and maintain a collaborative care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with exams and procedures
• Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies
• Perform clinical tasks including EKGs and in-house testing (A1C, INR, UA, strep, flu, COVID)
• Communicate lab and diagnostic results to patients within 48 hours
• Return patient calls promptly and address questions professionally
• Accurately document patient information in EMR and maintain records
• Cookise scheduling and manage patient flow efficiently
• Order labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests as directed by providers
• Education patients and escalate concerns to providers or management as needed
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms and equipment daily
• Support front desk and clinical team as needed
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives

Team Structure & Workflow

Partnered with a Physician (MD) and an additional Medical Assistant for support and training. Manage a daily caseload of approximately 18-20 patients.

Qualifications

• Nationally Certified Medical Assistant
• Current BLS certification
• Strong clinical and patient care skills
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities
• Highly organized with strong multitasking skills
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
• Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Clinical setting with moderate noise levels
• Prolonged standing, walking, and computer use
• Ability to lift supplies and perform routine clinical tasks
• Exposure to patients, medical conditions, and cleaning agents
