About the role
A Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is needed to administer prescribed medications and provide direct resident care under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and company policy.
- Verify resident identity, record medication details (drug name, dosage, time) on resident charts, and observe ingestion or application of medication.
- Take vital signs and monitor residents for responses to medications; report unexpected reactions.
- Document and report reasons for missed medication administrations to the charge nurse.
- Receive, record, and restock medication inventories.
- Provide direct resident care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with examinations and treatments.
- Assist Nurse Aides during meal times with tray passing, tray pickup, and feeding as needed.
- Respond to call lights promptly.
- Monitor effectiveness of PRN medications, document outcomes, and report to the Charge Nurse.
- Maintain cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room, and supply room.
- Report incidents, accidents, and alleged abuse to the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
- Adhere to "Residents Rights" guidelines.
- Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties within the scope of practice as defined by state guidelines.
Requirements
- Medication Aide certification for the state of Kansas.
- Current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a C.M.A in Kansas; must report any potential certification issues.
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
