Cluster Project Design Electrical Engineer, Fleet Remediation Engineering

As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Project Design Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers to remediate issues, upgrade existing infrastructure, or add new services. You will serve as the primary engineering resource for these projects, providing lifecycle support from design through implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions that add data center infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
  • Prepare and review short circuit coordination studies and maintain software models to match as-built site conditions.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region.
  • Interface with internal and external data center design engineering teams, server hardware teams, environmental health and safety teams, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert for your discipline during new remediation projects.
  • Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
  • Manage design and as-built drawings and documents.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage directly in the field to observe and assess project details.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission-critical facilities, including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
  • 4+ years of commissioning experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
  • Strong engineering judgment and ability to provide design recommendations despite uncertainty.
  • Detail and data-oriented with familiarity in design and construction processes.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Pay

USA, VA, Herndon - $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.
