Club Sports Coach: Women's Rugby

Quinnipiac University Club Women's Rugby is seeking a part-time coach to develop a competitive program. Coaches will work alongside student leadership, who assist with budget management and competition scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Instruct club athletes in rugby at practices and games
• Assist captains and executive board in constructing fair and balanced tryouts to select a team roster, if necessary
• Ensure compliance with USA Rugby, NCR, and Title IX guidelines
• Maintain frequent dialogue with Club Sports Administrators regarding travel, roster, and other team needs, including occasional meetings
• Attend all or most club practices, meetings, games, matches, and/or tournaments
• Participate in annual Club Sports Coaches Training with Recreation Staff
• Cooperate with student leadership on additional events as needed
• Chaperone trips, including overnight stays, and enforce conduct policies
• Perform other tasks as deemed fit by Club Women’s Rugby student leadership or constitution

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• USA Rugby certification, or ability to obtain
• CPR/First-Aid certification, or ability to obtain

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level
• Prior experience specifically with Club Sports
• Prior experience in rugby (playing, coaching, etc.)
• Ability to travel
• Ability to work nights and weekends

About the Club Sports Program

The QU Club Sports mission is to provide uniquely structured sport activities that may be competitive, recreational, or instructional in nature, filling gaps not covered by varsity, intramural, or recreational programs. The program offers a valuable learning experience through student involvement in fundraising, public relations, organization, administration, budgeting, leadership, teaching, and scheduling, in addition to athletic skill development.

While student-athlete experience is a key part of their time at Quinnipiac, the end goal for each Club Sport athlete is to graduate with a degree. This is a part-time, non-benefit-eligible position.
