Club Coordinator - Part Time

About the Role

The Club Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day youth development and staff procedures. The role involves planning activities, training and informing youth development staff, overseeing the recreation component of the program, and supporting organizational efforts for recruitment and retention. The Club Coordinator also collaborates and maintains relationships with community partners.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement programs for youth members
• Plan field trips
• Coordinate special events
• Assist volunteers when assigned
• Prepare program reports, particularly BGCA reporting
• Evaluate program staff on a regular basis
• Ensure Club Attendance goals are on target by working with schools and attending community events
• Ensure Youth Development program areas are appropriately staffed for youth activities
• Assure students are safe and engaged in activities
• Encourage emotional, social, and educational growth of individual students
• Collaborate and maintain relationships with community partners
• Collect outcome measurements such as pre- and post-test assessments for grant deliverables and BGCA
• Direct supervision of Youth Development and Program Specialists
• Provide all materials for Youth Development and Program Specialists
• Oversee that program areas are left cleaned and organized at the end of the day by the program staff
• Other possible responsibilities pertaining to the club include, but are not limited to:
  • Staff supervision
  • Data Entry
  • Chaperone for field trips

Requirements

• Demonstrate knowledge of principles related to youth development, management, and ability to plan effectively
• Group leadership skills, including understanding of group dynamics and discipline
• Understanding of the population of youth served
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Be enrolled in college or have some college credits
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test
• Must attend all staff meetings
• Responsible for all activities or program areas that you are in charge of from beginning to end
• Ability to maintain a high level of energy
• Be adaptable and flexible to change
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Skills

• Communication: Communicate, listen, and understand the children and youth development program staff. Provide them with correct and timely information and feedback when requested.
• Decision Making: Identify problems and discuss the best solution with staff. If a solution cannot be reached, escalate to the assistant club director or director of club services.
• Leadership: Be a role model for co-workers, youth development staff, volunteers, and especially members. Encourage members to strive to meet their goals.
• Personal Initiative: Work proactively to achieve higher levels of responsibility to better serve the youth in all programs.
• Planning and Organizing: Work on special days to accomplish tasks and goals needed to implement programs and activities for youth, such as Youth of the Year Award, Youth of the Month Award, annual Gala, and other organizational events.
• Safety: Promote a safe and healthy environment. Ensure members understand and follow the safety rules of the Club.

Scope of Authority

The Youth Program Coordinator’s direct supervisor is the Director of Club Services and Assistant Club Director. The Youth Program Coordinator oversees Youth Development Specialists within their scope of responsibilities.
