Cloud Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Site Reliability Engineer to join our Information Technology team working remotely (or at another approved on-site location). Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

• Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
• Build, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable private cloud infrastructure and platform services that support reliable deployment and operation of ministry-critical workloads.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and application delivery using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, AI tools, and modern engineering practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
• Monitor application and infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and participate in incident response and on-call support, including root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
• Develop and maintain internal tools, technical documentation, and standardized practices that improve team productivity, system maintainability, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and vendors to evaluate emerging technologies, optimize cloud resource utilization and costs, and continuously improve platform resilience and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or university program certificate in a related field and five (5) to seven (7) years of Cloud Engineering experience; or seven (7)+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven SRE or DevOps experience focused on reliability, automation, and production operations, including extensive experience with observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
• Strong hands-on experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux, self-hosted Git platforms, production Kubernetes environments, Linux administration and troubleshooting, and open-source/on-premise infrastructure; OpenStack experience is a plus.
• 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, an opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire.
