About The Role

GDIT is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Security Engineer to join our Cyber and IT Risk Management team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud security architectures across multiple cloud service providers such as AWS and Azure. Your expertise will support the Veteran Affairs (VA) in achieving compliance with federal security standards including FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, and VA 6500 requirements. You will be responsible for developing security policies as code, automating security controls, and ensuring continuous compliance through automated monitoring and vulnerability management. The position involves supporting incident response activities, managing encryption and key management processes, and leading identity and access management (IAM) integrations. Qualifications

• US Citizenship or Green Card Holder
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum of 6+ years of cybersecurity experience
• At least 3+ years supporting FedRAMP High or equivalent environments
• Certifications including CISSP or CCSP and a CSP-specific cloud security certification (e.g., AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer)
• Experience with federal SOC operations and cloud incident response
• Understanding of Zero Trust architecture principles
• Proficiency with automated compliance scanning and SOAR tools
• Knowledge of vulnerability management, forensic analysis, and incident response coordination
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud security architectures across AWS, Azure, and other CSPs
• Develop and enforce security policies as code, automating security controls and remediation workflows
• Support compliance efforts by generating documentation and evidence for security authorizations
• Manage encryption, key management, and data protection controls to ensure data security
• Integrate cloud environments with security operations centers (SOCs), SIEM, and vulnerability management tools
• Lead incident response efforts, including forensic investigations and post-incident analysis within tight timeframes
• Coordinate with federal agencies such as VA CSOC, US-CERT, and law enforcement for security incidents
• Lead identity and access management (IAM) integrations, including SAML/OIDC, MFA enforcement, and quarterly access reviews
• Support vulnerability management activities and contribute to continuous security improvement initiatives
