About the role

The role of a Cloud Professional Services Manager at Canonical involves leading and developing a team of engineers, ranging from graduates to seniors. The manager is responsible for line management, career guidance, and representing the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers. Additionally, the manager participates in technical presales to help the department achieve its quarterly goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers
  • Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback
  • Identify and measure team health indicators
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes
  • Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
  • Be an active part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of Linux and networking, experience in technical presales, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. They should also possess strong organizational skills and be able to ensure their team delivers timely, high-quality results. Passion and a track record of developing and growing people, along with experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers, are essential.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc. They should also have a relevant academic background, preferably from high school and university, and an exceptional academic track record. Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish or French, is preferred, as is Python knowledge and experience collaborating with external partners and several internal teams.
