About the role

The Cloud Platform Engineer provides technical ownership of the Bank’s Microsoft Azure infrastructure environment, ensuring cloud resources are deployed, operated, and maintained in a secure, efficient, and standardized manner. This role supports the Bank’s cloud modernization strategy by enabling secure migration and operation of services in Azure, while establishing and maintaining governance controls aligned to CIS benchmarks and regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and administer Azure IaaS services, including virtual machines, storage, networking components, and virtual desktop solutions, to support business and application requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance Azure governance frameworks, including Azure Policy, resource standards, and configuration baselines, to ensure alignment with CIS benchmarks and enterprise security standards.
  • Monitor and manage Azure infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity, implementing improvements to optimize reliability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Defense to ensure appropriate implementation of security controls across cloud infrastructure, including alignment with tools such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud and identity-based access controls.
  • Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives by building and maintaining infrastructure required for transitioning applications and services from on-premises environments to Azure.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and procedures related to Azure infrastructure architecture, administration, and operational support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues, providing support for production environments and coordinating with vendors and internal teams as needed.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to cloud infrastructure, automation, and governance processes to enhance operational efficiency and long-term platform maturity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or cloud engineering roles, preferably within a financial institution or regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including IaaS services such as compute, storage, networking, and virtual desktop environments.
  • Strong understanding of Azure resource management, subscription design, and governance constructs, including Azure Policy and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Experience with infrastructure security best practices, including configuration baselines, vulnerability management, and alignment with frameworks such as CIS and NIST.
  • Familiarity with hybrid infrastructure environments and cloud migration strategies.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, ARM templates, Terraform, or similar) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cloud monitoring, logging, and performance management tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support complex technical environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) preferred.
