StaffEngineer for Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Productivity
This role involves leading the development and operations of a robust AWS and Kubernetes-based platform that supports all backend applications at PayJoy. The platform ensures scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency. Key responsibilities include building and managing the Kubernetes platform, developing and enabling code quality standards, leading CI/CD and DevOps practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and optimizing developer productivity and resource utilization.
- Build and Manage Kubernetes Platform on AWS
- Design, implement, and optimize cloud and container-based solutions
- Conduct code reviews, manage infrastructure as code (IaC), and implement CI/CD pipelines
- Lead CI/CD and DevOps Practices
- Partner with product and engineering teams for onboarding new applications
- Optimize Developer Productivity and Resource Utilization
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering or DevOps
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- Experience with Python, Go, or another backend language
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
- Solid knowledge of modern DevOps practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive incident resolution
Preferred Skills
- Experience with DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar monitoring and logging tools
- Knowledge of financial technology (fintech) and specific security, compliance, and data protection requirements
- Prior experience in incident management and on-call rotations
