About the role

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer I will be part of a team that manages the provisioning, monitoring, recovery, and updating of cloud infrastructure, including the automation of these functions. This role requires a fast learner and self-starter who enjoys solving problems and automating operational processes. The individual will continually improve the Bank's cloud infrastructure design to provide a secure and highly available computing platform.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in post-incident reviews of all Major Incidents and assist in determining action items to avoid similar issues and minimize downtime.
  • Provide reliable, predictable deployment and maintenance of distributed systems adhering to security best practices.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of managing the Bank's Cloud Infrastructure Services, including software deployment and upgrades, system setup, administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, capacity planning, availability management, and disaster recovery.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for potential automation and providing feedback to relevant teams.
  • Support multiple systems or applications of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility.
  • Produce and maintain documentation to support developed/deployed solutions for ongoing support.
  • Design and maintain production monitoring tools, troubleshoot performance and stability issues.
  • Create and maintain automated monitoring and reporting of cloud infrastructure health, performance, and cost control.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure to identify areas of improvement, reliability, and cost savings.
  • Develop or update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Knowledge Articles for new feature launches or significant changes impacting support documentation.
  • Perform configuration management, review, and governance of Cloud resources, identity and access management (IAM), etc.
  • Actively troubleshoot issues arising during testing and production, resolving them before launch.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Perform backup and recovery of cloud-hosted systems.
  • Provide Level 2 production support and troubleshooting for technical issues.
  • Participate in routine on-call rotations.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing within the department.
  • Maintain current knowledge of cloud trends and developments.
  • Contribute to the development of cloud standards, best practices, and organizational cloud capability.
  • Research and drive adoption of cloud-native technologies.
  • Adhere to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance related to anti-money laundering (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act).
  • Adhere to Bank policies and procedures, complete required training, and report suspicious activity.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent management/work experience (at least 2 years), including practical experience in Information Technology and IT Security.
  • Experience with cloud-based enterprise infrastructure architecture and/or operations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technology.
  • 1+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience designing applications (e.g., web, client/server, COM+).
  • Understanding of the five pillars of well-architected frameworks.
  • Ability to interface with cloud services and tools from an infrastructure-as-code perspective.
  • Awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks.
  • Awareness of information security and governance controls.
  • Experience supporting automation teams using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
  • 2+ years of infrastructure experience: Monitoring, DNS, DHCP, Backups, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Ability to work within a platform product team to understand technical requirements and deliver creative solutions.

Qualifications

  • Microsoft or AWS-related industry certifications preferred.

Candidates residing in locations within BankUnited's footprint may be given preference.
