About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer II to join our team remotely, primarily supporting US-based operations within the Eastern and Central Time zones. This is a full-time position designed for professionals with a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering. As a Cloud Engineer II, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud solutions across multiple cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Your expertise will help ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our cloud environments, supporting ICON's mission to deliver innovative healthcare solutions faster. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of cloud architecture best practices, and experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. You will play a critical role in developing infrastructure as code, optimizing cloud costs, and implementing automation strategies to streamline deployment and operational processes. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex cloud migration projects, modernization initiatives, and platform engineering efforts, contributing significantly to ICON's technological advancements and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- 3 to 6+ years of hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Practical experience deploying production cloud solutions, including security policies, landing zones, and cost management tools
- Proficiency in modern CI/CD practices, source control, and automated deployment pipelines
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages
- Experience with cloud cost optimization, rightsizing, and reserved instances
- Knowledge of cloud security principles, governance, tagging, and policy enforcement
- Familiarity with containerization and cloud-native services such as Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, or GKE
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud environment issues
Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and support secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions across multiple public cloud platforms
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or CloudFormation to ensure consistent and auditable deployments
- Create, enhance, and monitor CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, security validation, and deployment processes
- Deploy and operate containerized workloads and cloud-native services using Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, or GKE
- Implement cloud networking, identity and access management, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and alerting in compliance with security standards
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to translate business needs into well-architected cloud solutions
- Advise product and application teams on cloud deployment patterns, platform services, and best practices for scalable and secure solutions
- Develop reusable templates, deployment patterns, and platform services to enable consistent and efficient application deployment
- Identify and resolve technical issues across cloud platforms, deployment pipelines, and production environments to ensure high availability and reliability
- Support cloud migration, modernization, and platform engineering initiatives by assessing workloads and designing target architectures
- Continuously optimize cloud environments for performance, security, cost, and operational efficiency based on monitoring data and best practices
- Support FinOps practices by implementing effective tagging, cost tracking, and capacity planning strategies
