About the role
The Enterprise Cloud Architect team at UMB was recently formed to streamline and accelerate the adoption of the Cloud. The team provides self-service means to empower other teams to deploy cloud-native platforms while ensuring security, governance, architectural best-practice, cost containment, and control. The team works to provide architecture, tools, services, knowledge, support, organization structure, and operating model arranged as a compelling product.
Responsibilities
- Participate in defining enterprise cloud strategy (AWS), reference architectures, and design patterns.
- Involvement in hands-on building of AWS environments.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines (Terraform).
- Adhere to governance frameworks, technology standards, and architectural principles.
- Communicate architectural vision to executive, technical, and business audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing cloud architecture (AWS) for enterprise environments.
- Following technical skills:
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- AWS Cloud platform
- AWS Cloud security, identity, and compliance (i.e. IAM, VPC, etc.)
- AWS Network fundamentals (i.e. VPC design, routing, NLB, ALB, API_GW, etc.)
- Containerization (i.e. Docker)
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinker mindset balancing delivery with long-term vision.
- Proficiency in Agile/Scrum.
Qualifications
- Bonus Points if you have AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional Certification, or any additional cloud certifications.
- Banking/financial services industry experience.
- Development experience especially with .NET.
- AWS Enterprise Support or Well-Architected Review experience.
- Event-driven architecture (i.e. Kafka, Kinesis).
- Microservices and API design.
- Kubernetes advanced management.
- IDE experience.
