About the role

The Enterprise Cloud Architect team at UMB was recently formed to streamline and accelerate the adoption of the Cloud. The team provides self-service means to empower other teams to deploy cloud-native platforms while ensuring security, governance, architectural best-practice, cost containment, and control. The team works to provide architecture, tools, services, knowledge, support, organization structure, and operating model arranged as a compelling product.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in defining enterprise cloud strategy (AWS), reference architectures, and design patterns.
  • Involvement in hands-on building of AWS environments.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines (Terraform).
  • Adhere to governance frameworks, technology standards, and architectural principles.
  • Communicate architectural vision to executive, technical, and business audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing cloud architecture (AWS) for enterprise environments.
  • Following technical skills:
    • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
    • AWS Cloud platform
    • AWS Cloud security, identity, and compliance (i.e. IAM, VPC, etc.)
    • AWS Network fundamentals (i.e. VPC design, routing, NLB, ALB, API_GW, etc.)
    • Containerization (i.e. Docker)
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker mindset balancing delivery with long-term vision.
  • Proficiency in Agile/Scrum.

Qualifications

  • Bonus Points if you have AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional Certification, or any additional cloud certifications.
  • Banking/financial services industry experience.
  • Development experience especially with .NET.
  • AWS Enterprise Support or Well-Architected Review experience.
  • Event-driven architecture (i.e. Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Microservices and API design.
  • Kubernetes advanced management.
  • IDE experience.
