Cloud DB Engineer
Role Overview
The Cloud Database Engineer serves as a multifunctional infrastructure specialist responsible for the administration, security, performance, and availability of the database, middleware, and supporting operating system environments. This role is for a well-rounded engineer who will support a variety of cloud, infrastructure, database, and automation activities. The position involves working across multiple areas and expanding beyond a single specialty to support the broader team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and administer Oracle database solutions including sharded databases, global databases, Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP), Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW), Oracle RAC, and Data Pump.
- Plan and execute Oracle database migrations, upgrades, and modernization efforts.
- Perform OCI Database Migration activities and database performance tuning to optimize scalability, reliability, and resource utilization.
- Manage dedicated database server deployments, environment cloning, and database refresh activities.
- Configure and maintain database high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Provision, configure, harden, and maintain Linux operating systems across cloud and edge computing environments.
- Automate Linux administration and operational tasks through scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Oracle WebLogic environments.
- Manage WebLogic domains, clustering, load balancing, and high-availability configurations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in cloud engineering and infrastructure engineering.
- Proven experience with database administration and automation.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with security and infrastructure troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle experience is preferred.
- Terraform or scripting experience is preferred.
