Job Responsibilities
- 25% Cloud Data Platform Administration: Administer Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, pools, permissions, and configurations. Implement governance, access controls, secrets management, and workspace policies. Ensure cost-efficient compute usage through autoscaling, cluster policies, and monitoring.
- 20% Data Infrastructure Reliability & Performance: Monitor performance of Databricks jobs, SQL warehouses, and underlying storage. Proactively tune clusters, SQL environments, and pipelines to ensure high availability. Maintain observability through monitoring platforms, SQL Server, Databricks Metrics, and alerting.
- 15% Data Backup, Recovery, & Resilience: Resolve data platform issues related to cluster performance, job failures, permissions, or integration points. Collaborate with data engineering and development teams to troubleshoot environment-level issues.
- 15% Database & Data System Security: Implement platform-wide security standards: SQL roles, Azure RBAC, network rules, Unity Catalog privileges. Support compliance and governance across cloud data services and SQL Server environments.
- 10% Troubleshooting & Operational Support: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, working closely with the IT team to troubleshoot and minimize disruptions.
Qualifications
- Desired Technical Experience (Not All Required): Managing SQL Server, SQL Agent jobs, SQL table and index maintenance, performance monitoring, and management. Experience with Cloud data platforms, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Snowflake, RedShift. Experience with cloud computing, Infrastructure-as-a-service, and cloud networking concepts. Experience with monitoring and observabilities tools such as SolarWinds and Azure Monitor. Understanding of data ingestion and transformation (ETL/ELT) concepts and data lifecycle. Experience with Data analytics platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik.
Job Specific Requirements
- Demonstrable competency with backups, restores, and recovery models. Knowledge of cloud compute and networking concepts (VNet integration, private endpoints, firewall rules).

Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform routine office tasks that includes operating a computer for long periods of time, sitting, filing and communicating on the phone. Ability to perform all physical functions consistent with travel including sitting in airplanes and driving for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull a maximum of 30 lbs.
