Cloud Data Migration Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute Oracle-to-AWS data migration strategies using AWS DMS.
  • Implement and support full-load, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real-time streaming data migration architectures.
  • Design and manage AWS infrastructure components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect connections.
  • Configure and maintain AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda to support migration and modernization efforts.
  • Create and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data integration solutions.
  • Create and execute migration cutover plans, rollback procedures, and risk mitigation strategies to minimize downtime.
  • Automate deployment, migration, and operational tasks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure, migration performance, and system health using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and related AWS monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot migration issues and perform root cause analysis to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions.
  • Document technical designs, migration runbooks, operational procedures, and best practices.
  • Support hybrid cloud and on-premises connectivity while assisting with legacy system modernization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards throughout the migration lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of enterprise technology solutions.
  • 8+ years of experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from Oracle to AWS.
  • 8+ years of experience with batch and real-time data ingestion, including full data loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and implementing AWS infrastructure and networking, including VPC, subnets, routing, and security groups.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, and Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • 8+ years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data integration methodologies.
  • 8+ years of scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • 8+ years of experience managing cloud networking and security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups.
  • 8+ years of experience with AWS monitoring and logging tools, including CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
  • 8+ years of experience developing migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and minimizing migration downtime.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud/on-premises environments and legacy system modernization.
  • Experience building enterprise AI/search solutions, AI agent implementations, and AI governance processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
  • Experience working in public sector or state government environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI governance, compliance frameworks, and technical documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
