About the role
The Managed Services Cloud Engineer at Planet Technologies supports impactful projects that make a difference for the nation. This role involves partnering with clients to grow their cloud presence across AWS and Azure, covering tasks such as technical writing, security assessments, and licensing.
Responsibilities
- Partners with clients to form long-lasting relationships and assist with their cloud growth.
- Assists with technical writing, security assessments, and licensing questions related to AWS and Azure.
- Supports the implementation of cloud infrastructure, including Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtual Machines, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security and Compliance, Federation with external identity platforms, and Infrastructure.
- Works on end-to-end implementations of target workloads, CI/CD development pipelines, and troubleshooting AWS and Linux issues.
- Maintains a deep understanding of AWS and Azure core technologies and stays updated on new technologies.
- Acts as an SME for specific technologies and assists clients in exploring and setting up new technologies.
- Ensures cost and performance optimization of server and cloud resources.
- Communicates progress and escalations effectively to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Linux OS and its supported technologies and systems.
- AWS Cloud experience and expertise.
- Azure Cloud experience and expertise.
- Experience with AWS or Azure Government.
- Kubernetes, containers, and related technologies.
- Governance experience.
- Linux System administrator experience, OS management, patching, application management, etc.
- Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu, and GNOME Linux experience.
- Linux Technical certifications, especially related to system administration at scale in Cloud environments.
- AWS Technical certifications, especially related to the core technology stack of Amazon Web Services.
- Azure Technical certifications, especially related to the core technology stack of Microsoft Cloud.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Cloud Core Platforms (AWS and Azure): Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtual Machines, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security and Compliance, Federation with external identity Platforms, Infrastructure.
- Experience with AWS or Azure Government.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and related technologies.
- Experience with Governance.
- Experience with Linux System administration, OS management, patching, application management, etc.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu, and GNOME.
- Technical certifications in Linux, AWS, and Azure.

Essential Duties
- Helps foster long-term relationships and partnerships with clients, going beyond just doing good technical work, and becoming a good co-worker, partner, and advisor.
- Surface and analyze customer business requirements.
- Translate requirements into an architectural design and influence the deployment of key infrastructure components.
- Design, construct, configure, and maintain all facets of an AWS Subscription/Tenants.
- Plan and execute an end-to-end implementation of the target workload.
- Work on CI/CD development pipelines.
- Troubleshoot AWS and Linux issues as the Subject Matter Expert.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of existing and emerging Azure and related core technologies.
- Be up to date on new technologies within Azure that could benefit customers.
- Assist clients in exploring and setting up new technologies.
- Act as an SME for specific technologies and assist clients in the exploration, initial setup, and support of those technologies.
Pay and Schedule
Salaries for Consultants at Planet Technologies range from $120,000 to $210,000. Final pay offered to a successful candidate will be determined by factors including but not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, clearance level, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, etc.
