Cloud Architect - Platform Architecture (Remote)

About the role

The ideal candidate will join the Publix Platform Architecture team as a Cloud Architect. They will design and implement large-scale, multi-region, and multi-cloud architectures, ensuring high availability and resilience. The role involves managing cloud strategy, enforcing cloud standards, and optimizing cloud resources.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement large-scale, multi-region, and multi-cloud architectures
• Integrate cloud services to create highly available and resilient cloud solutions
• Address information governance and security challenges associated with public clouds
• Document work and changes to the cloud environment effectively
• Manage the development and implementation of cloud strategy
• Define, implement, and enforce the cloud operating environment, cloud standards, and associated tools/platforms/frameworks
• Contribute to the Publix cloud roadmap and delivery strategy for cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid implementations
• Define and enforce cloud architecture best practices
• Recommend cost optimizations and ensure cloud resources are operating as efficiently as possible
• Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack: IaaS, PaaS, services, applications, network, and security
• Identify recurring problems/bottlenecks and build the tools and processes to prevent problems from recurring
• Collaborate with Architecture, Development, Engineering, and Security teams to ensure well-architected cloud solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of architecture experience
• 8+ years of experience supporting multi-tier web applications
• 5+ years of experience handling workloads in large-scale environments
• 5+ years of experience in design and implementation of cloud workloads in Azure
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Experience with analyzing and defining technical requirements & design specifications
• Experience with cloud native database design with both relational and document-based database systems
• Experience with integrating complex multi-tier applications
• Experience with API design and development
• Experience with application lifecycle tools (Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
• Experience with cloud networking and network security, including virtual networks, network security groups, cloud-native firewalls, etc.
• Able to demonstrate writing shell scripts (Cloud Shell, Bash, PowerShell, or Python)
• Practical knowledge of application security
• Recent experience supporting hybrid cloud and multi-cloud configuration
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
• Recent experience working with database technologies hosted in the cloud such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Recent experience with Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB, or Cassandra
• Past experience with Azure certification exams
• Recent experience with Azure DevOps or other CI/CD tools and pipelines
• Experience with big data clustering technologies (Spark, HDInsight, Databricks, etc.)
• Experience in design and implementation of cloud workloads in GCP
• Ability to demonstrate recent experience developing software that is deployed to the cloud

Preferred Qualifications

• Passing one or more Azure certification exams
• Recent experience developing software that is deployed to the cloud
