Cloud Architect

About the role

The Cloud Architect will design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that support business objectives. Reporting to the Director of Cloud Engineering, this role focuses primarily on AWS environments and collaborates with other cloud architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Partner with other cloud architects to design and implement cloud-based solutions. - Design and build secure cloud environments using security guidelines and industry best practices. - Support complex cloud migrations and ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, and cost-effective. - Build and design cloud-based web services, including geographically redundant services. - Orchestrate and automate cloud platforms and infrastructure. - Educate teams on new cloud-based solutions and provide training. - Troubleshoot issues and resolve them before becoming major concerns. - Introduce innovative tools and technologies to keep the organization at the forefront. - Assist with production support as needed. - Communicate technical concepts clearly to both developers and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

- US Citizenship required and able to obtain a public trust clearance. - 2+ years of experience running production workloads in cloud environments. - Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, particularly within AWS. - Experience designing and implementing highly available cloud architectures aligned with FedRAMP requirements and NIST SP 800-53 security controls. - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical teams. - Commitment to staying updated with emerging cloud technologies and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 3+ years of experience with enterprise Linux-based systems administration. - 3+ years of experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and source control. - 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tooling and methodologies.

Location

Mechanicsburg, PA. Local candidates who can work onsite 3 days per week are strongly preferred.
