Cloud Application Architect

Job Summary Our client is seeking a hands-on Cloud Platform Architect to manage application architecture, deployment strategies, performance, security, and operational reliability across large-scale AWS environments. This role connects application development and cloud operations, with a focus on Kubernetes deployments, CI/CD automation, and secure cloud architecture. The ideal candidate combines strong AWS expertise with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and improve how applications are deployed and maintained. Core ResponsibilitiesDesign, maintain, and monitor enterprise AWS environments supporting application deploymentsIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and system degradation to support application availability and responsivenessDesign and manage Kubernetes deployments for distributed applications and microservicesDevelop deployment strategies that reduce downtime and improve release workflowsBuild, automate, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing and infrastructure provisioningPartner with development teams to define branching, merging, repository, and release strategiesIdentify and address security vulnerabilities within AWS-hosted applications and infrastructureApply cloud security practices across identity and access management, infrastructure configuration, and application deploymentsEvaluate application and infrastructure architecture to reduce manual work and improve cloud operations Required SkillsExtensive hands-on experience designing, maintaining, and monitoring complex AWS environments and application architectureStrong Kubernetes experience supporting containerized applications and microservicesExperience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelinesExperience with infrastructure automation, automated provisioning, and testing integrationsAdvanced knowledge of version control, repository structures, and branching and merging strategies supporting multiple development teamsStrong understanding of AWS security, identity and access management, compliance patterns, and secure deployment practicesAbility to diagnose and resolve application performance issues, network latency, and infrastructure bottlenecksBackground in DevOps or Cloud Operations with hands-on ownership of application deployments and operational reliability Key Competencies & BehaviorsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to connect application requirements with cloud architecture and operational needsClear communication with engineering and development teamsOwnership of cloud performance, security, and reliabilityAbility to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement Work EnvironmentLocation: St. Louis, MO or Denver, COWork Model: Hybrid Compensation & BenefitsPay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $50.00 and $80.00.
