Cloud and Hosting Infrastructure Lead
Responsibilities
Lead the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise hosting platform services across hybrid environments, including private cloud, public cloud, IaaS, PaaS, and cloud migration offerings.
Oversee integrated engineering and operations teams delivering secure, scalable, and resilient hosting solutions for enterprise and scientific workloads.
Drive cloud modernization initiatives, including cloud readiness assessments, migration planning, and implementation of standardized platform architectures and service offerings.
Provide technical leadership for platform engineering, including development of automated provisioning, Infrastructure-as-Code, and CI/CD-enabled deployment pipelines.
Direct operations of hosting environments, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and adherence to ITIL-based service management practices (e.g., monitoring, incident, and change management).
Collaborate with cybersecurity stakeholders to support RMF, A&A processes, and compliance efforts, ensuring platform environments meet federal security requirements.
Serve as a senior technical advisor to Government leadership, guiding architecture decisions, technology strategy, and continuous improvement of hosting platform capabilities.
Collaborate with NIH CIT stakeholders, system administrators, and engineers to ensure performance, scalability, and security of the hosting environment.
Requirements
Education: bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline is desired OR 10+ years of experience leading enterprise hosting programs supporting both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure services, including application hosting, storage, and backup solutions.
Certification: Possess an ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 Foundation or a higher certification in either category.
Security clearance level: the ability to obtain a Public Trust.
Qualifications
- Experience leading enterprise hosting programs supporting both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure services, including application hosting, storage, and backup solutions.
- Proven expertise in cloud technologies and service delivery models, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and cloud migration strategies.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated provisioning of infrastructure and platform services.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud hosting strategies, including development of service offerings, technical roadmaps, and modernization initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership of large, cross-functional engineering and operations teams (30+ personnel), including technical leads, engineers, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.
- Experience supporting mission-critical systems requiring high availability, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting federal cybersecurity requirements, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment and Authorization (A&A), and coordination with cybersecurity stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience supporting NIH CIT Hosting and Storage Services (HSS) or similar federal enterprise hosting environments.

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $164,382 - $195,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
