Under the direction of the Inspection Supervisor/Team Lead, this role focuses on the inspection of finished fabric to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe work environment and identify training opportunities to reduce accidents and employee injuries.
- Align and position fabric rolls, using Swiftack to fasten ends.
- Start and monitor fabric inspection machines, inspecting for defects according to SOP.
- Use scissors to cut bad seams or defects and a sewing machine to repair fabric as needed.
- Apply tape to mask seams and use Swiftack or a china marker to flag defects.
- Record defects in the basic inspection system and escalate questionable material to supervisors.
- Prepare and verify fabric rolls: place empty tubes, cut swatches, tape tubes, measure width, and attach tickets.
- Ensure correct arrow direction on the initial roll of each lot.
- Doff full rolls, cut samples for the lab, collect paperwork, record production, fill out grade forms, and log lab samples.
- Receive verbal instructions, retrieve and store work tools, and maintain supplies (e.g., fill Swiftack thread, sewing machine).
- Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
- Pay close attention to detail and execute tasks effectively.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate with team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to accurately and consistently follow detailed procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including moving and lifting equipment, and sitting or standing for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute tasks effectively.
- Ability to grasp concepts within a reasonable timeframe.
- Understanding and adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Lean manufacturing experience is strongly desired.
