About the Role
The Closing team continues the momentum from the team’s day of hard work to finish strong, ensuring the guest experience is prioritized until the doors close each night. This role focuses on guest service, sales growth, workload efficiency, and team leadership to achieve store goals.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences
- Prioritize the guest experience by modeling, training, and coaching service standards
- Understand and drive storewide sales volume and profitability
- Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing best practices, closing skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions
- Problem-solve and prioritize across multiple business areas to execute store strategies and deliver sales goals while maintaining guest focus
- Support store operations by ensuring departments are zoned, in-stock, signed, and labeled appropriately for the next day
- Use business planning tools to share priorities and updates with store leadership
- Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team
- Support team onboarding, learning, and accountability to expectations
- Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier; address store emergency and compliance needs
- Model and enforce a safety culture, including hazard identification, incident response, and injury reporting
- Engage with guests in a welcoming manner, addressing their needs and expressing gratitude for their visit
- Support merchandise protection strategies and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws (e.g., adult beverage regulations)
- Assist with guest services such as order pickup (OPU), Drive-Up (DU) orders, and DU returns
Requirements
- Enjoy interacting and helping others, including guests and team members
- Thrive in a fast-moving, physically demanding role with a focus on teamwork and flexibility
- Open to a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Experience with handheld scanners, frequency devices, and other technology equipment
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks effectively
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment and accomplish tasks within timeframes
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
- Handle cash register operations as needed
- Climb up and down ladders
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental elements
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
