About the role

The Orthopaedic Center is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant (MA) to assist various orthopedic physicians under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator. The position involves providing coverage for clinical teams as needed, performing general nursing duties, suturing/stapling removal, wound care, dressing changes, drawing up and calling in medications, applying sterile fields, removing casts and splints, locating necessary imaging/test results, scheduling and precertifying MRI’s, lab work, procedures, and surgeries, preparing for clinics, escorting patients, and communicating with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the preparation of patient information and restocking exam rooms.
  • Coordinate and schedule clinic activities including MRI’s, lab work, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Communicate with patients regarding test results and provide patient education materials.
  • Answer and return patient phone calls, appointment reminders, and respond to chart messages.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms.
  • Assist with verifying pre-operative labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed.
  • Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms as directed.
  • Travel to local satellite offices as required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a Rotork or Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification within the first 90 days of employment, at least one year of full-time clinical experience in healthcare, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and under pressure, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of full-time clinical experience in healthcare

Skills
