Clinician, Home Medical Equipment Sleep
About the role
This position is a Home Medical Equipment Sleep Clinician role at Park Nicollet, joining the Health Care Products team. The role involves collaborating with the Health Care Team to treat sleep breathing disorders, instructing and educating patients on the use of sleep-related medical equipment, and assisting with the inventory and ordering of supplies.
Responsibilities
- Traffic and educate patients on the use of home medical equipment for the treatment of sleep breathing disorders.
- Assist the CPAP Services Team in providing sleep-related medical equipment to patients.
- Continue education and follow-up for patients.
- Inventory and order supplies, clean, test, and maintain all returned products.
- Document to ensure billing of equipment and supplies.
- Work closely with the Sleep Center, Pulmonary/Sleep Clinic, and other CPAP Services staff.
- Lead certain projects and teach the rest of the clinical staff.
- May be required to travel to CPAP locations within a given week.
Requirements
Three years’ experience in a healthcare setting required. A MN Respiratory Therapy license or RPSGT license is preferred. BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines is required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of sleep breathing disorders and the therapeutic modalities used to treat the disorder.
- Knowledge of medical center charting and billing procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, especially the patient care team.
- Ability to collaborate with health care team in the delivery of patient care interventions.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems with home medical equipment, especially Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) equipment.
- Ability to read a patient medical history and compliance report and determine what PAP related interventions can help to increase patient’s compliance with PAP therapy.
